Introduction Part 2

(...) After that, we had the second part of our Balinese lesson.

In the afternoon, we took a cooking class - we made spring rolls, fried bananas, and iced tea. It's actually quite easy, except for rolling the spring rolls - a total disaster!

But it tasted really good - especially the fried bananas with chocolate sauce and grated cheese :p

In the evening, the four of us took a dance class and we must have looked ridiculous! It was really difficult to dance.

Thursday: together with two others, we went to the Holy Hot Springs and went bathing in warm volcanic water :) really pleasant. After a photo session with the Polaroid camera, we went for a walk and I finally found a sarong.

In the afternoon, we had a flower offering. We made a basket out of coconut leaves and bamboo, and then placed flowers in it. Each color represents a different god and direction. In the center, we used green grass for balance. We put the basket on an altar, took out a few flowers, held them between our hands, and prayed. At the end, we put the flowers behind our ears.

After dinner, we all went to the beach to play music, sing, and watch the moon and distant storms by a bonfire with three local people. The sound of the sea added the final touch!

Friday: there is no program today, but I went to a hotel with two other volunteers. But that's a different story.
