Camptour 10th part: Fort Steele

प्रकाशित: 19.05.2018

Fort Steele was on our list because there is the 'Fort Steele Heritage Town Museum' here. An open-air museum that reminded me a lot of the one in Molfsee. The only difference: this little town was not brought together, but was built over 200 years ago in this very spot during the gold rush. Many buildings have been restored, but some have intentionally been left to decay to illustrate the changes over time. Like in Molfsee, there are craftsmen here who bring the old times back to life, like a blacksmith and a baker (the cinnamon buns were amazing!).

On the campsite, we first set up our new grill, a good investment that we used extensively in the following weeks. Since meat and sausages are incredibly expensive here in Canada, we became masters at coming up with other things to grill during our vacation. From vegetable skewers, sometimes with feta, sometimes without, to breads and even pizza (ok, that only worked with the help of the oven in the end), the possibilities are enormous once you start thinking about it.
And of course - typically American - burgers. Here's a little tip: If you forget the burger buns, toast works well too :D
