8.8. A Whole Day in Singapore

Ippubblikat: 08.08.2018

Today was a very eventful day. I set my alarm for 9 o'clock, then had breakfast and got ready for the day.
First, I went to Little India. I let myself wander and went without a map, 'freestyling'. Little India is really beautiful. I saw a lot of nice little shops. In one of them, I got a new screen protector for my phone for a total of about €1.90. The prices here vary a lot though. At first, someone wanted to sell me a screen protector for about €7.90. But eventually, you can find some real bargains here. There are also many temples in Little India. I visited them too. They were all very magnificent, colorful, and simply impressive. Then a little lunch: Curry Chicken supposedly 'not spicy' but it was already quite spicy for me. Well, I finished it anyway. After that, I went to Fort Canning Park, which is also very beautiful. This park is located between Little India and Chinatown. That's where I went next.

Chinatown is very colorful, crowded, and full of smells. I went to different shops, temples, and markets there and it was just bustling. For those who like massages, this is also the right place, there are massage parlors everywhere. Also for men here: you can have suits tailor-made everywhere for very little money. The selection of fabrics is amazing. When I took a break at a temple, a Chinese man approached me. He showed me the temple and explained Hinduism to me and what is behind Buddha. He was so enthusiastic that he wanted to show me something delicious for dessert. It was a wrap with rice, peanuts, and vegetables. Well, it was okay. But the man also showed me how to eat with chopsticks. His name was Tony, he was about 50 years old. After that, he took me to 'Gardens by the Bay', taught me a little Chinese, and watched the light show with me. However, I found his openness and friendliness a bit strange and weird, so I brushed him off. It was already quite late too. Before I left, he told me about a water show, which was my next highlight. After the truly impressive water show, I walked back to the hostel for about 40 minutes. Now I am reflecting on the day.

Overall, this day was really nice. I experienced a lot and learned many new things.
