Hello,
after a long but safe flight via Qatar, we arrived in Phuket at 6 am local time and thus had our first day ahead of us. We did not need a visa, but we had to provide accommodation, which, spontaneously chosen, turned out to be a hit. (see picture - approximately 800 Baht ~ 20 euro)
Unfortunately, we then realized that the airport is 33 km from Phuket Town - well, the bus connection is pretty good, we know that now.
Since we couldn't check into the hotel so early in the morning, we went to eat first. Typically Thai, of course, with rice or noodles, lots of vegetables, chicken, and lots and lots of chillies - I eat almost everything now! (see picture)
Stuffed and with two backpacks each, we headed towards the city park. When we arrived (unfortunately, everything was pretty messy), a local immediately approached us, who had already seen us coincidentally while we were eating. After an informative and nice conversation, he offered to drive us to our hotel because his grandson was nearby at the doctor's. (selfie with Eddy)
Once we finally got rid of the backpacks, we immediately rented a scooter. (around 5 euros per day) I'll spare you the description of the traffic, just watch the video. And YES, you have to wear a helmet and YES, you have to fasten your seatbelt in the car, and YES of course, I have a license for a 125cc motorcycle.
We rode the scooter to Patong Beach on the west coast of Phuket (the island is not that big). Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, and instead of snorkeling as hoped, we only enjoyed the waves. (see picture)
In the evening, we went to a local food market. By chance, we came across our first chicken feet - it tasted better than it looked. (see picture)
All in all, the first day was very successful. Tomorrow, we plan what to do next.
Thank you, Teriyaki
