The Phoenix Park

Ippubblikat: 08.06.2021

Hello dear ones!

It's finally happening. Something exciting is actually happening in my life here in Dublin. After finally writing and submitting my last paper at the beginning of this week, I finally found some time to do more. The pictures are already a few days old and were not all taken on the same day, but who cares. So here are a few summary impressions from Phoenix Park.

The park was established in 1662 by the Duke of Ormond. Originally, the park was used for hunting wild game, which still roams freely in the park today. The fallow deer that live here in the park are so accustomed to humans that sometimes they can even be petted and will eat something delicious from your hand if you offer it to them. The small forests here are very beautiful, and the vast meadows finally allow you to breathe again in this otherwise bustling city. Within the park are also the residences of the US ambassador and the Irish president, both of which are very impressive from the outside. So far, we have mostly visited the park in the evenings for a little walk, after spending the whole day writing papers. But this week, we also just soaked up the sun, which unfortunately resulted in a nasty sunburn. Now I look like a roasted chicken with two snowballs in my neckline.

On the same day, our host father came into the kitchen with a huge bouquet of flowers and handed it to me. My wonderful friend even manages to make me happy all the way in Ireland. I don't think anyone has ever made such an effort for me before. (I'm in love)

Stay tuned for the next post tonight, folks.
