Final day?
This morning I regretted how much I ate at the ethopian restaurant and how late I went to bed.
I still had some breakfast but during my cornflakes my stomach suddenly screamed the holy name of ETHIOPIA and I had to run to the bathroom. When I came back the hostel cat was enjoying my cornflakes a bit more than me. So I had to throw the rest away under loud protest of the cat.
I packed some of my things but the reception wasnt open anyways so I couldnt check out before my tour arrived.
We drove to the ferry and got our tickets for the island. We had to get through a security check qnd scan our bags before we could enter. We waited a bit before we got on the boat and were ready to leave.
At the island we got on some busses that first took us around the island and a guide explained all the things we saw.
Then we got to the prison, were a former prisoner took over the tour and explained what happend inside. It was interesting but his style of speaking and telling was a bit exhausting.
He also led us to the cell of Nelson Mandela and told us a few things about him. The tour was already over, which wasnt too bad since it was getting kind of late for me.
We walked back to the ferry and heard the message that it was about to depart, which was quite a coincidence since I felt that something in my stomach was about the depart aswell.
So I made my way there a bit faster I scanned my ticket and just walked through the security check because ethiopia was calling my name. I ran unto the boat and quickly found the toilet sign pointing downstairs.
I sprinted downstairs and saw the first one was for women, so I went to the second one and it was for women aswell! 1000 Ethiopian were now screaming my name in chorus and I knew there was now time to go back up and search for the male toilet.
So I excused myself for the next person who would go to the toilet after me but I was out of time.
After 20minutes I came out again, sweating and there was a women standing there looking at me kind of weirdly but I didnt care. Ethiopia was silent, for now.
Back at the mainland I tried to get an uber but there was no wifi around. So I went for a taxi because I was getting a bit nervous. It costed more than double the amount of an uber but I was at my hostel.
I packed my stuff and checked out. Sadly there was only one of the people I met there, so I could just say goodbye to one. Craig was waiting for me and together we grabbed my luggage and went to the car.
On the way to the airport we talked about how the time flew and when I am going to come back.
Then he loaded me off and we said goodbye.
Craig had told me where to go for the airport so I found the check in quite quickly. However there was a lady waiting in the line and was handing out papers to everybody.
'We are sorry to tell you that your flight has been delayed until tomorrow 03:10 in the morning'
So .. who thought my adventure was going to end just because I am going home?
I contacted my parents and still decided to check in my luggage and then just wait it out. At the check in however they told me that there was a bus booked to a hotel with lunch. They also told me that by luggage was oversized, which was the first time since I started travelling and I still have the same bag🤔.
So I brought my luggage to the oversized area, thankfully nothing triggered the alarm. Then I went to the bus.
We went to a quite fine looking hotel the 'southern sun waterfront' as I found out this is a 4star hotel and the rooms and the dinner looked like it. I felt really out of place with my travelling boots and trainers on but I did enjoy it.
After the dinner I walked back into the city, it was quite a walk until I met with my friends again. They had dinner and we talked, the asked if I wanted some but I still felt the call of ethiopia in my stomach so I didnt. I was also pretty full from trying all the dessert ar my hotel.
Then we walked back to zebra where we met with everybody else aswell. So this time I got to say goodbye to everybody.
I thought about walking but decided to call an uber since it was pretty late. Which was a good idea I found out because capetown was in party mode. There was a festival day today and we saw a lot of drunk and dressed up people. We even saw the police with their guns stopping a car and telling the people to get out. So quite intense out there.
At the hostel I went into my room to nap for a short time before I have to check out at 01:00 and catch my flight at 03:10. I have no idea how it is going to look in germany to get to switzerland.
