Do you know that feeling when you have so much to do and wish that the day had more than 24 hours so that you can get everything done? Fly to the USA and your day will have more than 24 hours 😂
After a last-minute boarding in Cologne because we had to go through what felt like 100 passport controls and entry interviews, our flight with Eurowings was very relaxed and calm. The food was mediocre as always, but the movies were very current and entertaining.
In Las Vegas, we landed at around 2:30 PM local time. The wait at immigration was not long... at least not for us, but for those behind us. 😂 When the three of us stood in front of the officer who was checking our entry, and she asked the obligatory questions like how long we will stay and where we will be traveling to, and we answered 3 weeks and then continuing to Hawaii, she started talking to us about Hawaii and giving us travel tips. It turns out she is originally from Hawaii. She explained which island is the most beautiful, what we should definitely do on Oahu, that the volcano on Big Island is not that active, etc... It was great for us, but those behind us didn't find it as amusing. 😂 Sorry for that 🤷🏼♀️
After passing through immigration with even more Hawaii travel tips, we quickly grabbed our bags and rental car and headed to the first hotel, the Desert Rose. It's a cozy and clean hotel located off the Strip. The price-performance ratio is great, I can highly recommend it.
And then the hardest part of the day began: staying awake 😳 while it was 1 AM in Germany and our body clocks, it was 4 PM on the Las Vegas clock. So, we quickly jumped in the shower, changed clothes, and off we went.
We walked across the street to the grand MGM Grand Hotel (where David Copperfield regularly performs his magic show) and then went to NewYork NewYork, where Steffi and I will be watching the Cirque du Soleil show Zumanity at the end of the vacation.
Since the airplane food didn't really convince us, and it had already been a few hours, we decided to dine at the MGM buffet. The selection was really good, and even I had options other than just salad. But who knows the phenomenon that occurs after a hearty meal? Yep, fatigue... we struggled for another hour before we fell into bed completely exhausted. Accompanied by a thunderstorm, we all fell asleep around 9 PM.
While Patrick and I have been up since 5 AM and enjoying our first Starbucks coffee, Steffi is still sleeping peacefully. The day was doubly exhausting for her due to all the new impressions: the city, the people, the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas, and all the flashing lights of the casinos. Patrick and I can relate to that because it was the same for us 5 years ago. So, we are letting her sleep a little longer and are excited to give her even more new impressions today. 😊 Especially when it comes to spending money here 😂 The first item on the agenda today is: shopping at the Premium Outlets 🛍💸
