With the Serra Verde Express

Ippubblikat: 04.10.2018

...that was spontaneous yesterday: this train line goes down to the lowlands to a rather picturesque town called Morretes. The weather was unfortunately not ideal with fog, occasional drizzle, but a cloud-covered rainforest also has its charm and it cleared up a bit. The diesel-powered trains transport mainly goods, including shipping containers from Germany. However, the term "Express" is rather a joke given the speed - no flower picking allowed. As an excursion, it is well organized, even with a waving farewell committee. The fact that Brazilians hardly ever take the train is confirmed by the fact that school classes and adults alike cheer at every tunnel and want to photograph every tree. So I was constantly pushed towards the window by my fellow travelers - although it wasn't really good weather for taking pictures due to the fog. Selfies with the selfie stick are constantly being taken. Fortunately, you can open the windows (for better photography - what else). Only on the return journey, the windows had to be closed because supposedly naughty boys sometimes throw stones. What else was there to see: deep abysses into a foggy nothingness - bridges, viaducts, rainforest, and resting railway workers - they also like to wave. A fun experience on the train and outside. I enjoyed it. Only the tour guide was a bit annoying because everything was commented and explained in extreme detail, starting with the train toilets... okay, my nonexistent Portuguese made it rather tiresome for me. I was asked if I understood something - but of course!! Morretes - also very nice. The hosts rub their hands when the train spits out hordes of tourists. I myself was more on a photo safari - okay, a beer at the end when the school class had left the restaurant - they hadn't left much except beer!

Erinnert mich an meine Zugfahrt von Mombasa nach Nairobi...nur der Zug - die Landschaft ist jedoch ganz anders.
