Welcome to my travel blog!

Ippubblikat: 09.08.2019

Hello and welcome to my travel blog!

Here I want to try to inform you about my volunteering service at the School for life in Chiang Mai for the next 12 months.

Yesterday, my co-volunteer Luca and I were picked up in Chiang Mai by our mentor Conny, Kim, and Biboe (two children from the school) after a 14-hour journey. The first meeting was very relaxed, as we had already met Conny in Germany. Kim and Biboe also welcomed us warmly and were not shy.

Afterwards, we drove by car to the suburb Doi Saket on the way to change our money and buy a new SIM card.

This all went very smoothly and after a long wait, we were ready to go to the school for life.

The way there leads over a highway, which, in contrast to German highways, is well developed but surrounded by jungle and instead of guardrails, has green trees and blooming plants.

At the end, you turn slightly into the jungle and follow a normal road to the entrance of the school. This has a long driveway and on the premises, you are warmly greeted by the children, who all raise their hands for a high five. After the greetings, my room was shown to me, which is located in the volunteer area (on the picture above).

My room has its own bathroom, is relatively large, and I could immediately set up my bed, my desk, and my cupboard. The volunteer area is also very nice and offers its own kitchen, a dining area, and hammock spots.

After my arrival, I was unfortunately so tired that I didn't have any time to look at the school or talk to anyone, so I went straight to bed.

Today, I had time to take a closer look at everything and greet everyone. But more on that in the next post!

xoxo Clara
