City, country, sea and back💥🏁

The past few days have been a bit quieter than usual on my blog. This was not so much due to poor reception in the mountains, but rather because we had some great experiences over the weekend that I didn't have time to write about.

Our road trip took us from Heraklion to Rethymnon and Chania to Elafonissi. As already reported, we stayed in a great hotel in Rethymnon and went out in the evenings. On Saturday morning we had an incredibly delicious brunch for strength. That's more memorable than the unnecessarily stupid and expensive parking ticket for parking in the wrong place 🙄😅

In both Rethymnon and our stopover in Chania, we saw picturesque town centers and harbors. Everything is still a bit sleepy in winter, but without the crowds of tourists, it was also pleasant. On our way to our second accommodation, we drove along winding roads 😵 They led us to the remote region of Elos, where they probably didn't expect visitors at this time. We picked up the key at the tavern of the village and then raised our glasses 🍻

The next morning we were awakened by light snow and rain - actually not a good sign for our final drive to Elafonissi Beach. After winding our way down the mountain and passing the reception committee of the mountain goats, we reached our destination - with sun rays peeking through the clouds 🌤 In front of us was a beautiful beach, offering breathtaking views, and the much talked about pink sand was also visible here and there. There were only a handful of people with us. I don't even want to imagine the chaotic conditions in the summer at 35 degrees Celsius.. So it was a bit cold, but the water was bearable. I am very happy about my dip in the cool water 🙂 The whole atmosphere around this dream beach just completed the experience 🙌 The pictures certainly don't do justice to the impressions - so come here yourself once.

After all the experiences, we had to face a 3.5-hour drive back to Heraklion. We went from sun at the beach to rain in the mountains and arrived in the dark. It's impossible to avoid all the countless potholes and bumps in the road, but we were able to return the rental car 10 minutes before the deadline at 7:50 PM 😄 Fully enjoyed, I would say!

The road trip was definitely an exciting adventure and I'm curious to see what comes next :)
