Day 6 Braubach - Ehrenbreitstein Fortress Koblenz

Ippubblikat: 20.09.2020

I worried for nothing that I would have a hard time with this stage. I started in good time and arrived here around 15:30 with breaks. 22 km and 800 meters of elevation can still be handled by Omma. Today there was a lot of forest and some steep ascents. Final destination: Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Had a glass of wine while enjoying the magnificent view of the German Corner, where the Moselle flows into the Rhine. Finally, a conclusion.

Positives: the fantastic weather was great for me, but not for the forest.

The signage along the way was ingenious. I had never experienced anything like it. Nevertheless, I was also able to gain experience with the Komoot app, which is very helpful for me. Walking all day and simply having nothing else on my mind is balm for the soul.

Digital media: Even though many complain about their mobile phones, I can't imagine being without one on the go. Power bank is important. It was in daily use to record the entire tour. I could have left the e-book at home. I don't need it for a tour like this.

Negatives:

The search for accommodation is annoying. Black mosquitoes constantly flying in front of my eyes.

The route often has a certain level of noise despite walking high up.

White cloths everywhere in the forest. I had a pi cloth and washed it in the evening. Works great.

Overall, I'm absolutely glad I walked it. Once again, it was a good experience to be on the road like this, but it was also more of the luxury version. With all the traffic on the Rhine, I was once again very aware of the importance of leaving the car parked whenever possible.
