Tuscany and now Umbria

Also the landscape is truly a dream. Roads lined with cypresses winding up the gentle hills, an old stone farmhouse framed by pines at the top, in front an olive grove, countless old, gnarled trees with their pale bluish-green leaves. Enchanting. Today in the late afternoon we reached Assisi. We are standing at a pitch at the foot of Mount Subasio and the view of white Assisi, which is located on the ridge of a smaller promontory, is breathtaking. Now after sunset, the first little lights come on and the sky above us is blue with glowing orange clouds, around us the silhouette of the hills of Perugia. Beautiful. The weather has been extremely good to us for a week, we have bright blue sky and summer temperatures during the day, but it gets chillingly cold in the evening. Soon we will have tortellini with butter and Parmesan and tomorrow we will visit the birthplace of Saint Francis, also visit his tomb and probably eat some gelato. See you soon.
