It's been a while since the last entry. Now we have been in Mexico for three weeks and we feel pretty good so far.
In Germany, we already booked a two-week Spanish course at the Don Quijote language school in Playa del Carmen, so we can communicate on site. We chose this place because it is located directly on the Caribbean coast. Playa del Carmen is a popular holiday destination, especially for Americans. We lived with a host family for two weeks to practice what we learned. We had a double room and felt comfortable there. Every morning, we had breakfast together with Teresa and Nassim and then went to school. The school was about a 20-minute walk from our accommodation and about 15 minutes from the beach. We didn't live right in the hustle and bustle, so it was a nice place to relax. Our class started at 9 am and ended at 1 pm every day. So, we had the afternoons free to go to the beach or do some sports.
At the school, we met many people from Germany, Switzerland, and other countries, with whom we did activities in the afternoons.
There are many cenotes around Playa del Carmen. These are collapsed caves that are filled with fresh water. You can swim, dive, or simply jump into them - pretty cool, we haven't seen anything like this before! Akumal is about a 20-minute drive away. It's a beach where you can snorkel and see turtles and manta rays. You can reach many places with collectivos, which are small buses that locals use to get around. A ride with these buses costs a maximum of 45 pesos - which is a little over two euros.
It was a huge coincidence that our friends - Ricarda and Felix - were also on vacation in Akumal at the same time, and we did some activities together. For example, we spent a day in Tulum and cycled to a cenote and the local beach. Because we liked Tulum so much, we decided to spend a few nights there again with my brother, who is visiting us for two weeks.
One day, we drove to the Mayan temples in Coba with the guys from Cologne who we met in Fiji.
That's it for the first three weeks - check out the pictures, it will give you a better idea ЁЯШЙЁЯШК...
