Grotte Su Mannau in Fluminimaggiore

प्रकाशित: 18.10.2017

Phew... exhausting day! Last night, the Captain organized a wild 'Primus-Dens party' and we were the main guests. Sleeping was secondary... especially when there are 27 more teeth coming and at least one is already announcing its arrival, the next nights will certainly be super awesome! 👍

The Captain keeps emphasizing that he wants to elevate us culturally to the next level, so after leaving the beautiful, quiet, and somewhat desolate Costa Verde, the next cultural highlight awaited us. According to il Capitano, cave salamanders like us should have visited a real cave at least once in their lives. So he set course for Su Mannau in the village of Fluminimaggiore. I was already not able to take it in anymore when we reached the entrance of the cave. For the Captain in his chest harness, it felt like climbing 200 steps... as I said, at that point, I could have turned around, but the Captain was relentless. Until now, I still haven't understood the difference between stalagmites and stalactites. What's certain is that both could be admired in abundance and both only grow 2-3cm every 100 YEARS - unlike the Captain's teeth! It's no wonder we had a guide with us, making sure we wouldn't accidentally break off half a millennium of stone appendages as we passed by...

I seem to recall the Captain squeezing my fingers pretty tightly in the cave hehehe... but the diaper was still dry afterwards 🤣

The cave was definitely impressive, but whether we've reached the next level culturally 🤔 I don't know... Il Capitano was definitely satisfied though.

For sunset, we went to Buggerru and parked on the beach for 10 Italian crowns. The shower water is warm, the beer is cold, and the evening is saved!
