Day 12/13 Back to Saigon

प्रकाशित: 07.09.2019

Day 12, the bus starts at 7:30, too early. You guessed it, time for a nap. At the only stop, I bought some fruit, even though it violates all the rules (only eat what's cooked, fried, or peeled). But no complaints. Arrived in Saigon, it's raining and raining. I had read about it, in the city a student approached me if I have some time to talk to him. That's how they improve their English. No problem, I had to wait for the bus anyway.

Not much going on in the hostel. Michael from California was about to leave. We agreed to meet in Siam Reap, let's see. There are still 2 girls from the Czech Republic (you can't see them) and Maria from Chile.

It's raining and raining, my plans are obsolete. I had already prepared for a quiet evening. But the Vietnamese took me to dinner in the city. On the back of Ha's motorbike through the city. They placed a kind of ceramic stove with glowing coal in the middle, on top was hot broth and constantly meat, noodles, and vegetables were put in and fished out with chopsticks after a while. Exciting and quite delicious. They convinced me to try tongue, the stomach was like rubber, disgusting. And there were the duck eggs again, luckily everyone refrained from them.

Afterwards, we went to the cinema to watch 'It Chapter Two'. Very bad movie, but still fun. Again with Ha on the motorbike back. In total, there were 4 motorbikes and we were like a small gang riding through the empty streets of Saigon at night. It was fun. In total, there are 6-7 Vietnamese people (who knows exactly) and a permanent British resident in the hostel.

Day 13, since we didn't get back from the cinema until 2 o'clock, it was time to sleep in. Took the bus to the beach with Maria, nice person. Ate together in a restaurant where only locals were. Once again, very delicious. Went to the historical museum in the afternoon (if you're into that kind of thing, you'll like it). When it rains here, it's heavy and short. Booked a tour to the Mekong Delta for the next day. Yes, it's a tourist thing, but if you're here anyway. The bus ride back was super exhausting, standing for an hour.

The rest of the day was quite calm. Did laundry and gave lessons. The student was really good, the topic was nightlife and going out. There seem to be clear differences between Vietnam and Germany. Tina cooked again, but I declined thanks to squid and fried maggots. Got something at a street vendor

Realistically, I probably won't find another shared flat like this for the rest of the trip. So no high expectations for the rest. I think a cold is coming, not surprising with the climate and air conditioning everywhere.
