26.11 A punch exchange for your birthday please!

Julie and I are really not early birds... Even on Sundays, it takes us a while to get out of bed. Julie packs her stuff, then we have breakfast and leave the apartment together around 10:30 a.m.

Our paths diverge at Siam Station.

Julie takes her stuff to her new hostel and I have a kickboxing training appointment at 11:00 a.m.

To my disappointment, I find out that no one is there. The reason: the trainer is sick.

I had no idea about that! No big deal :)

There's still the pool and after about 1 hour I head towards Chatunchak Market.

Once there, I meet Julie and we have lunch together. Then we go to Chanel 7 Stadium, which is only a 10-minute walk from the market. Every Sunday, high-level fights take place there, which are broadcasted live on TV. As a Swabian, I'm naturally happy that the admission is free ^^

I get a really good spot with a great view of the ring. The wait for the start is endless, so I start chatting with my neighbor.

She's from Bad Tölz! What a coincidence! I get some tips for Bali from her and then the first fight begins.

The fights are extremely dynamic and almost anything goes. The spectators in the stadium are crazy and cheer for their fighters with every hit. Almost everyone here bets on the outcome of the fight.

I also bet with my seatmates, although only a small amount. In the second fight, there is a knockout and the loser is carried out of the ring with a cut and a bleeding nose. A brutal, but also very interesting combat sport.

After 6 out of 7 fights, we leave the arena.

Julie goes back to the hostel and I go to Dirk's apartment. After Dirk gets his hair dyed (sorry had to be said :P), we go to a restaurant together.

The dishes are good, especially the spare ribs are very tasty. After I'm dropped off at home, I thank them for the invitation to dinner and go to bed early. Tomorrow it's back to the office.
