Hello!
The day started with high fog and drizzle, in between it rained buckets and it ended with drizzle. Tomorrow doesn't look any better, but we'll see....
Yes, the usable pictures of San Marino were as reluctant as the Pope in appointing female priests: No chance!
A substantial foggy soup with drizzle greeted me in the morning and since my weather frog predicted it would drizzle all day long, I adjusted my well-trained raccoon belly into appropriate rain gear along with gaiters and rainproof gloves. Swinging my legs over the pockets had proven to be quite unreliable, as it seemed the gaiters had fallen in love with my backpack and my leg, thrown quite vigorously over the Taschenberg, refused to be released. So I was stuck like an idiot for a while and spent the rest of the day riding my moped as if I were an old, creaky old man.
The panoramic road from Pesaro was my first goal of the day and my eyes finally opened a little at the sight of the sea and the magnificent landscape.
Why were they almost closed?
On damn near every road here there are proper speed limits and overtaking bans, and there are always hundreds of cars on the road! It's a miserable crawl, I just can't concentrate! As if I were still sitting in school and constantly falling asleep in front of the teachers...
So away from the coast, away from these straight roads, into the Abruzzo region, and I have to admit that from this point on, I interpreted double lines, overtaking bans, and restrictions more as good advice.
Finally, curves again and few cars (but the asphalt is really shitty and slippery, my rear wheel proved that soon enough)! The landscape with its villages and cities is fantastic! Here I could finally understand why people travel to Italy! Absolutely worth seeing! If the Po Valley is Mordor, then I probably have the Shire here (I'll check if the ladies here have hairy hobbit feet, wouldn't surprise me!)
In a small town on a hill (I'm sleeping in Penne) I also found accommodation today, so I'm already at the end of the story.
P.S.: Look for my spelling mistakes!
