Hello family and friends. In order to keep you all updated we thought it might be a good idea to share our thoughts and impressions from our travels with you online :)
As most of you know our plan was to go to New Zealand. Due to some visa complications which appeared five days before we had to leave, I wouldn't have been able to go on working holidays to NZ. Spontaneous as we are we decided to cancel our flight from Singapore to Auckland (and no, we got no money back for the flight 😅). We booked a hotel for two nights in Singapore as a stopover anyway and decided to go to Bali from there. But more about Bali later...
Our flight from Berlin Tegel started at 9.40 a.m. and we flew more than twelve ours. Usually I love long term flights even though I am never able to sleep on planes. But the idea of having nothing to do, nothing to plan and just chill out, eat and drink, watch a couple of movies or read a book kinda relaxes me 😃
Once we arrived in the early morning in Singapore we headed to the hotel and slept until the middle of the day. Our hotel was located close to China town so we went there for some lunch and made our first memories.
Compared to Berlin the streets and surroundings are extraordinarily clean, which was nice for a change. We walked through China town, saw the Merlion and tried to take the typical touristy photos. And we did some typical sightseeing. Singapore is usually used as a stopover. It's really worth seeing this futuristic city state and it was especially interesting for us because Logans dad lived here when he was a child, which I think is super cool! But in our opinion you don't need to spend more than two days in Singapure.
But there was one thing which stood definitely on my bucket list - the Gardens by the Bay.
Once it got dark we made our way there and we didn't get disappointed. To see these fairytale like woods puts you in awe and it was truly mesmerizing walking through that place at night.
Even though we only spent less than two days in Singapore, we are glad that we've been able to see a bit of it.
We arrived early at the airport and our plan was to actually have a stroll around there since the airport itself is an attraction. But after eating and getting an unexpected call from Manu, a friend we made in Australia and her boyfriend Dan, we didn't have much time anymore. So we headed to our gate and started to the flight to our new adventure - Bali 🙌💚
