Into the wild

Yes, what should I say? Guys, we're in paradise! I only realized that when we rented a scooter and drove out to the countryside. Yes, we dared to ride a scooter through Ubud. And if I'm honest, it was one of those moments where I'm incredibly grateful to have David by my side. As I mentioned before, the traffic here is anything but relaxed. At least in the cities. So we rented a scooter for a day. David drives and I sit behind. By the way, it only cost us 5 euros. The first few minutes we both felt a bit uneasy. No, let's be honest. I was terrified! 😂 But as always, David handled the situation brilliantly. David is simply a jack of all trades and does things with such calm and finesse. I really respect that. And the longer we were on the road, the cooler it felt to zoom through the streets of Ubud on the scooter, just like the locals do. Blue sky, 30 degrees, and a cool breeze made the ride sweeter. And even though we were constantly being overtaken from all sides, sometimes driving on the wrong side, and there was honking everywhere, it felt liberating. But it really got beautiful from the first kilometers outside the city. Suddenly there was hardly any traffic and we drove on small paths surrounded by rainforest. We passed countless rice fields where people were working, through villages where women were carrying heavy things on their heads, through beautiful nature, and to dreamy waterfalls. We chose two waterfalls that are not considered "hotspots". And it was worth it. The first waterfall called Air Terjun Nungnung brought us closer once again to the power of nature. I was still far away from the waterfall when I already got hit by a lot of water. The closer I got, the more energy I could feel, until I finally stood right in front of it. Wow, that was just an amazing feeling. Feeling the power of nature is indescribable. Some amazing pictures were created in the process that will always remind me of this great moment. After the refreshing cool-down, we went back up. It was tough, but it was worth it. I had never seen such steep stairs before. We drove to another waterfall where the locals were bathing and praying. We got into a conversation with some students from Denpasar and got to know the place in a traditional way. Have I ever mentioned how beautiful nature is? In the distance, you can see volcanoes, bananas, mandarins, and much more growing by the roadside, and the rice fields are lush green. We sit on the scooter and enjoy the scenery. A smile is met with a grin, and everywhere you are warmly welcomed. And yes, my dears, as always, nature wins for me. In the city, you don't get to experience the "real Bali" much, I think. Both of us are so glad to have seen Bali outside of the city. Where there are no "hip" restaurants and where everything doesn't revolve around tourists. Apparently, the country has changed quite a bit in recent years. Which is surely due to tourism. But what can I, as a tourist, really say about that? But what a wonderful day, do you remember those days when everything just falls into place? The next day continues perfectly. We start with a yoga class. In a little cottage surrounded by the rainforest with a view of the rice fields and the sound of the waterfall in the background. Guys, you don't need music in the background there. Those who know me know that I like to practice yoga. I can only say that it was a great yoga experience and certainly not the last time here on Bali. At the moment, I'm relaxing by the pool and dedicating myself to my blog in peace, which means you. Later we will visit a Balinese cooking class. I just have to be able to cook it myself! So, who wants a Balinese evening when I'm back in Germany? I invite you 😊 By the way, we also visited the Monkey Forest here in Ubud. Cute and fascinating animals, but you have to be careful. Monkeys steal, they are clever, and they can bite too. The monkeys also roam around the city. So the power lines quickly become a climbing paradise. Oh, and don't tell my grandma about the scooter. Otherwise, she'll personally get on a plane and drag me back to Germany.
