Tag 55 and 56 Wanaka

Continuing on to Wanaka - a small, young, and truly beautiful town. We walked along the lake of the same name, visited the famous tree in the lake, and on the campsite, we had a belated birthday dinner with grilled lamb, green asparagus, and couscous salad. Additionally, Basti made friends with a small white dog who escaped from his enclosure, enticed by Basti's calls and the smell of meat.
The next day, we hiked up Mount Roy - 16km round trip with 2600 meters of elevation gain in 6 hours. The view from the top was breathtaking (360° view of Wanaka, the lake scenery, and the snow-covered Southern Alps). Afterward, we were pretty tired and treated ourselves to a visit to the Paradiso Cinema. Not your ordinary cinema. Instead of regular theater seats, they had sofas and car seats, and during the intermission, there were freshly baked cookies, pizza, salad, and of course, popcorn (only salty).
