Today we explore the lower west coast of the Vesterålen Islands, passing through Sandvika, Skiftesanden Hovden. Beautiful route from one bay to another, with much of it right along the sea. The area from Hovden to Sandvika is a large sea eagle habitat. We were able to observe many sea eagles, circling, eating fish, perched on rocks. We were very lucky to be able to photograph and film them up close, sitting on a rock by the road. The sea eagle is the largest bird of prey in Norway, with a wingspan of up to 2.65 meters. The heaviest sea eagle ever found weighed 7 kilograms. Approximately 40% of the Norwegian population breeds here in the Vesterålen and Lofoten islands. The birds stay in the country all year round. It is worth taking the time to observe them. On the way back, we observe a wagtail and a beautiful owl. And so ends an eventful day with a game of Jass.
