Although our ferry wasn't scheduled to leave until 12:30pm, we were excited to be in port on time and were a bit nervous. A flat tire should not jeopardize our project that we could miss the ferry to Lanzarote at the very end of our adventure trip. It was only 16 km from the hotel to the port and we managed it without any problems. Clearance by the police and ferry staff was quick and professional, so we ended up being on the ferry an hour and a half before departure. We were proud and happy that we made it and actually fulfilled our project. Then the ferry left and we left mainland Europe, which was slowly disappearing on the horizon. What remained was the wide Atlantic, the sea was quite smooth, and it promised to be a smooth crossing. Nevertheless, Andrea unfortunately got seasick. Around midnight we were almost halfway between Spain and the Canary Islands and day 40 was decided.
