Day 15: To Vancouver: 07/06/2018

प्रकाशित: 08.07.2018

After the heat of yesterday, we are delighted that it is pleasantly cool the next morning. One last breakfast on the AIDA together with Botts, one last farewell and a group photo.

Then we leave the AIDA and take a few more hours to explore the old town of Montreal.

And what an old town it is! A cathedral, beautiful churches, boutiques and passages. All in the French style.

The morning passes too quickly and at 2 p.m. we take a taxi to Montreal airport. We were very surprised that this very long distance cost only 41 Canadian dollars. The rip-off artists on the ship charged 40 € per person for the journey. So it was much more comfortable overall and also cheaper. And we met a very cool taxi driver from Haiti.

There is not much to say about Montreal airport. We boarded a WestJet plane and flew 5.5 hours to Vancouver.

We were greeted by a mild summer evening, a fantastically large car, a Dodge Grand Caravan with 7 seats and a large trunk. However, the hotel was rather disappointing. We had booked a hotel room for 6 to 8 people and assumed it must be a suite. In fact, it was just a normal double room with two double beds. And since everything was fully booked, Sophia had to sleep on a provided mattress, Iris and Nuria slept in one bed, Silke, Julian and I slept in the other. The requested baby cot was, of course, not there either. It was a terrible night with little sleep. The cause of all this was a booking error on the website www.booking.com. Although we indicated that we were arriving with six people, only four people were reported to the hotel. So we were assured that we would be helped the next morning.
