Griaß'ina,

and welcome back to my Portugal tour. We continue with the small town of Calds da Rainha, which I was recommended by a local and where art plays a really big role. All of the shops in the city center are small and filled with a wide variety of art. Unfortunately I was in town during siesta time and therefore some shops were closed. That probably wasn't the worst idea for my wallet.

The main attraction and “pivot” is the park, which was built around the old Rainha D. Leonor thermal hospital. What is special here is that the hospital is an old ruin, which, on the one hand, unfortunately and on the other, fortunately, continues to fall into disrepair. This means that it radiates a very specific aura and also produces great photos, but I also don't know how long the building will still be standing.

The park itself is beautifully landscaped and there is quite a bit of art in the form of graffiti and statues throughout the park. Since I was still pretty exhausted from the day before, I laid down in the shade and took a little nap until I was woken up by a few strange figures in the distance and fled as a precaution. So I discovered the group and decided to leave because of the way it looked. Sad but unfortunately one of the problems in our world is that the majority of women look at their surroundings with a skeptical eye and react to potential dangers by fleeing preventatively.

From here we continued to the next campsite and continued towards Coimbra.

With this in mind, best wishes to all of you and stay safe!
