16.02.2020 - Day 53 - Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Finally on vacation!!! 😉 After 7 weeks of traveling with daily activities and tours, it's time for 7 days / 6 nights of relaxation in a luxury resort on Playa del Carmen, located on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

After another "Business Class" flight with my "favorite airline" United 😡 😡, we landed in Cancun this morning at 5:30 am. Since we were the first ones through customs, our luggage appeared at the beginning of the baggage carousel thanks to priority status (at least that works with UA), and our driver was already waiting for us outside the door, we arrived at the hotel around 7 am, when everything was still pitch dark. Only the reception was occupied, and even though the earliest check-in time is supposed to be 3 pm here, they wanted to quickly prepare our villa for us. They told us to go have breakfast ☕️🥐🍳 and our butler (!) would let us know when it's ready. And so, at 8:30 am, we were taken to our beach villa and immediately, because of the location, size, facilities, etc., etc., we were completely thrilled. The Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Resort has a total of 128 rooms. 5 of them are the so-called beachfront casitas, two-story villas right by the sea with a private pool on the upper sundeck. The best thing you can book at this hotel. An absolute dream.......

After unpacking and taking a shower, the highlight of our day awaited. Our dearest neighbors and friends Kirsten and Hans came to visit us because "coincidentally 😉" they are here in Playa del Carmen at the same time as us, although in a different resort. There was a wonderful and warm reunion, which was celebrated on our terrace with plenty of champagne, wine, and canned beer 😂. Knowing ourselves and the two of them, this will probably happen a few more times throughout the week 😋😋.

PS: In the next few days, the daily reports will probably be much slimmer, because we have firmly decided to do nothing ☺️. By the way, that's a specialty of mine 😂😂😂.
