Salvador - Bahia

I arrived in Salvador around midnight. I took an Uber to the hostel and went straight to sleep as I was extremely tired. There was a one-hour time difference between Rio and Salvador, so now I have a 4-hour time difference to Germany instead of 3 hours.

At first, I didn't feel very comfortable in Salvador. Although the city was beautiful and vibrant, I had the feeling that it was quite unsafe.

People walked down the street and tried to put a bracelet on my wrist or leave a temporary painting on my arm, all for free. Even though I said no, I had no chance as they physically touched me. Of course, after that, they asked for a donation in a very pushy manner.

Since I arrived late at night and hadn't met anyone yet, I spent the day alone. I walked through the beautiful streets, visited the carnival museum, and went to the market. Even in the museum, I felt a bit pressured, which made me feel uncomfortable. In the afternoon, a group of drummers walked down the streets and everyone danced. In the evening, I walked the streets again with a French woman who had already traveled to Brazil three times.

Salvador is incredibly beautiful. However, I wouldn't walk alone through the streets again. It was the first time I felt somewhat uncomfortable in Brazil.
