The second location of Milwaukee Brewing Company (aka MKE Brewing) was our next stop. The new brewery here is currently being built by KHS (!). The mix of industrial style, plant elements, and incoming sunlight is very pleasant.
MKE Brewing Co
Outboard (cream ale) 5.0%
Pleasant drinkable ale. I'm not a big fan of the more prominent notes of ale yeast that come through.
Louie's Demise (amber ale) 5.5%
Good drinkable amber ale with a pleasant malt body and a good balance of bitterness and light hop aroma.
MKE IPA 5.5%
Intense East Coast IPA
Hop Freak (IIPA) 8.7%
Too alcoholic and lacking in hop aroma. More towards the West Coast.
Next, we went to the adjacent buildings of the former Pabst Brewery. Many of them have been demolished, but a few are still standing. Tours are also offered in the old buildings, but we couldn't do them due to lack of time. The brewhouse has been converted into a hotel, but the kettles are still in their original state - very impressive!
