Tag 304: Sanur, Bali

प्रकाशित: 07.01.2018

9:45 AM. We are sitting in a speedboat. The sun shines through the dirty windows and the waves splash against the outer wall. Two days ago, after a 23-hour journey from Vancouver, we finally arrived in Bali, Indonesia. 16-hour time difference and 30 degrees temperature difference. From the airport, we took a taxi directly from the noisy city to the quiet beach. Sanur, a small tourist resort southeast of Denpasar. In a really beautiful homestay near the beach filled with luxury hotels, we recovered from our jetlag and got used to the new circumstances. New continent, new country, new culture, new currency, new prices, new habits. What do they eat here? How much do groceries cost? How do people operate? What is allowed and what is not? We adapted and immersed ourselves and spent the last two days on the beautiful beach. Bali is Hindu and you can see that at every corner. The streets are decorated in vibrant colors, the spicy smell of incense sticks is in the air, and the ground is paved with small offerings. The Balinese people are generally very nice, calm, and helpful. They are very friendly when they want to sell you something and incredibly unfriendly when you decline. The food is delicious, the weather is good, the beaches are beautiful, and the water is clear. We have arrived well in Asia.

Our boat reaches the beach of Nusa Lembongan, a small island belonging to Bali. We get into the car and continue to our accommodation. Let's see what the next few days will bring here.
