Day 4 in Minnesota

Today was a great day that started with rain and thunderstorms ⛈️

We had planned to meet Jennifer, Chris, and their kids Amalia and Michael at Taylors Falls Canoe Rental, about a 50-minute drive from our hotel. It started raining and thundering on the last quarter of the way 😢

The people at the rental said we could come back later and just set off with the boats. The rain radar also showed that it would get better in about 1 hour.

Since Jennifer & Co. hadn't had breakfast yet, we drove to Dallas Café & Coffeehouse in St. Croix Falls for breakfast. They had excellent coffee, Highlander Grog brand 🤣 very tasty, as well as my English Muffin with Egg & Bacon 👍🏻.

The rain stopped, second attempt!

We received instructions on where to leave the river to be picked up by the bus and when the bus would depart.

Off we went. Amalia and Michael in 2 Single kayaks, Marten with Chris and Jennifer, and I each in a canoe.

In just under 3 hours, we paddled about 11 miles, stopped twice, Marten, Chris, and Michael went into the water for a swim, and Marten switched with Amalia and even tried the kayak. The water of the St. Croix River was pleasant, everything around us green, and a pretty large trout jumped in front of our canoe. Just great!

After the bus brought us back to our cars, we went to a typical Drive Inn restaurant to satisfy our hunger. Homemade Rootbeer and burgers, a perfect end to a great day!

On the way back, I made a stop at the Franconia Sculpture Park, much to Marten's dismay 😂
