Tag 6: Let's continue

The next destination is Leipzig. It's almost 400 km and quite a few altimeters until then. But first, we're heading to Bamberg. The drive is actually unspectacular. The highlights are:

• a ship on the Main-Danube Canal, which immediately reminds me of Dieter Hildebrandt and the Scheibenwischer. Gisela Schneeberger always asked for the bank account number of the CSU grandees so that they could receive their royalties from their supervisory board activities. But the joke about the ship was: Usually you say 'Schiff ahoi', but on the canal you say 'Hoi, a Schiff'.

In Bamberg we have accommodation without a reception, everything is done via email with a code for the entrance. We still take a bus to the Michelsberg and walk through the vineyard to the old town, have a 'Schlenkerla' (a smoked beer) in the restaurant of the same name, and have an ice cream.
