Day 3: Short and hot

After a rich breakfast, I start around 9 o'clock in the heat. First stop is the Benedictine monastery Plankstetten, maybe known to beer drinkers. The beer somehow belongs to the Riedenburger Brewery, but never mind. Unfortunately, it's not time for a spelt beer at half past nine. There is currently a major renovation going on, which doesn't make for nice pictures. The monastery also offers guest rooms, they are even listed in the adfc bed & bike. That would have been great! Well then...

Next highlight is Berching with its old town and all. Until then, I went along the Main Canal, always in the shade. Impressive amount of water lilies in the water, but taking pictures doesn't make sense because of all the reeds. Then a stretch along the road until it becomes a bicycle path again.
I'm getting closer to my destination Neumarkt in the Oberpfalz. Yesterday I reserved a room at the Gasthof Schönblick, which advertises its view of Neumarkt. The disadvantage is that it's uphill at the end. Google lets me down heavily and wants to send me on a path that doesn't exist. So I push my bike up a footpath and am very pleased when I arrive at the inn and can check into my room right away. Even though it was only 37 km, I'm glad I don't have to continue in the heat.
