Norway Day 4: Water falls from above, not downwards

ꯐꯣꯉꯈ꯭ꯔꯦ꯫: 22.08.2022

It's raining all morning, which is not a problem, after yesterday's hike, we don't feel like moving much.

At noon, we drive down the pass to Rjukan and do some shopping, fortunately, you can also buy groceries in Norway on Sundays. Rjukan is an outdoor sports center today, about a hundred years ago it was of economic importance because of its large hydropower plant. The energy generated there was used to operate a large fertilizer factory.

We want to see the Rjukanfoss, the impressively deep canyon is definitely worth seeing. The waterfall itself no longer exists, its water is redirected and used for energy generation. Instead of water falling into the canyon, water falls from above, giving us a pretty bright rainbow.
