Tuesday: In the afternoon, we can pick up the rented camper van in Frankfurt, a VW Grand California, automatic transmission and lots of technical gimmicks, almost new. We are the third renters, it still smells like fresh plastic...

The neighbors offer that we can load in their driveway, we are ready to go quickly, but it is already 6:00 p.m. We don't get far, after dinner in Alsfeld we only make it to Kassel.

Wednesday: Drive from Kassel to Tornby near Hirtshals, about 800 km. I am relieved that it is not as bad as I thought to drive this huge vehicle with the unfamiliar automatic transmission.

I was already in Tornby 8 weeks ago. The fish restaurant is still just as good, this time we are not staying at Munch's Badehotel, but in the camper.

Thursday: The Fjordline ferry departs from Hirtshals at 9:00 a.m. The sea is calm, we don't need any motion sickness medication. We arrive in Langesund at 1:30 p.m. It's raining.

In the afternoon, we happen to be at the historic lock in Ulafoss when a ship passes through. The over a hundred year old technology still works smoothly, the ship impressively overcomes a height difference of 11 meters.
