Taiwan :)

I just came back tonight from my four-day weekend in Taiwan. It was really beautiful and we were able to see a lot in those four days, although we experienced a cold front and it was 'only' 12°C. I know I shouldn't complain, but the temperature there is usually around 20 and the locals also said that the cold weather is not normal. But we survived by layering our clothes.

So on the first day, we visited the National Palace Museum, Confucius Temple, a temple whose name I don't remember, a random place with lantern exhibition, more temples, and the night market. Taipei has delicious food and we tried all sorts of things. We skipped the stinky tofu, though, which actually smells like cow dung and supposedly tastes the same :D

On the second day, we spent the afternoon in Jiufen mainly on the Old Street, which looks like a covered market. There are small shops and food stalls everywhere. We found a beautiful traditional tea house there and they showed us how to properly prepare and pour tea. It was quite funny.

After that, we headed to the main highlight of the trip, which was the Lantern Festival. *.* It was sooo beautiful. I have to admit that I expected more lanterns to be released at once, but due to the limited space, only a few people were allowed to release them every half an hour. But after we squeezed our way to the main square, it was magnificent :)))

On Day 3, we explored Taipei again and visited the National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall, the Fine Arts Museum, had a delicious lunch, hiked up Elephant Mountain for the view, visited another night market, and ate even more ;)
On the last day, we only went to the Yehliu Geo Park, where we saw various shaped rocks, and then treated ourselves to a foot massage to spend our last pennies ;)
And then it was already time to go back to HK.
