Leaving Mayschoß this morning was a little heartbreaking. We had spent four lovely days and nights here. The facilities that the "Zur Burgwiese" campsite has to offer are not new, but everything worked and was extremely clean. The operators try to make a good impression on their guests. As we left, a young girl brought a small gift to each car and wished us a safe journey. A nice idea. We will fondly remember our time in Mayschoß and will certainly visit again one day.
The journey to the Camping Beach Club in Fachbach, our base for the next four days and nights, was no mean feat. We set off on the 80 kilometers in two convoys, with ten and nine vehicles. For many drivers, it was their first trip in a group, and the guests had no radio on board, and the route was quite confusing due to the many construction sites and the associated closures. But all vehicles made it to the finish by 3 p.m. The campsite staff had their hands full directing the 19 vehicles to their places. "We've never had such a large group of travelers here before," admitted operator Jessica Schupp when she welcomed everyone.
In the evening, the constant rain, which had caused many to look anxiously towards the Lahn, stopped. The site is only a stone's throw from the bank. "Unlike in the Ahr Valley, the risk of flooding is not so great here," explained Oliver Schupp, and so our crew met up in the evening for a relaxed game of bingo.
Heidi and Hans-Peter Giger from Lucerne and Heike Demsar, who could not and did not want to leave her Peter alone for so long, joined the group today. She brought a portion of luck for her husband, which helped him make it to the winner's podium in one of the three rounds. However, he and his motorhome friends Europe had nothing to do with the awarding of first place. They were taken by guests Marianne, Icke and Willi. "They probably won't take us on the next tour," said Icke with a wink at the organizers. "We could well talk about it tomorrow at our annual general meeting," said Ricci, laughing from ear to ear.
