Dogonland with puzzles

When I took these two pictures, I was alone in the village and had to ask later what it was. I could imagine what the thing in the first picture was. But the second one puzzled me.
The first one shows a toilet. Under the clay hole is a special sand that supposedly decomposes the feces.

The second picture shows a compost pile. But not an ordinary one, like ours. This material consists of clay, herbs, and water. The compost is then used to paint the houses, like the fine plaster with us.
The material is supposed to withstand the weather for 10 to 20 years and protect the clay underneath.
