Two day trips through the landscape of the Vesterålen archipelago are behind me/us. Today we have reached the northernmost point of Nordland.
It rained a lot, but that's not an obstacle. The route from Svolvaer via Kråkberget to Andenes took me over small roads, beautiful bridges, along remote fjords and every now and then I took a ferry.
For me, the advantage of the changeable weather is that there are additional great lighting effects in an already beautiful landscape. A feast for the eyes!
As soon as I have reached the destination for the day and have settled in, I usually walk a few more kilometers to really arrive.
Yesterday's fjord camp is very secluded and surrounded by very marshy areas. However, this place is absolutely recommended for anglers. There are boats to rent and an extra hut for preparing/preparing the caught fish is also available. My hut consisted of a room without running water. The space is nice and big, but the distance to the toilet and kitchen should not be underestimated. Especially at night.
Today I stayed in Andenes. On the way here I passed an old place of power in the Andøya district, the Bukkekjerka, a natural niche in the rock between land and sea. Pagan ceremonies were celebrated here and today open-air church services take place here. Shortly afterwards I passed areas of Andøya Space, a company active in the field of rocket research and development. I wouldn't have expected it here.
Excursion boats leave from Andenes to discover whales, but that is not planned for me. Maybe I'll be lucky tomorrow on the 3 hour crossing to Senja and see a tailfin...
