ꯐꯣꯉꯈ꯭ꯔꯦ꯫: 20.06.2022

Tomorrow morning we will continue towards Verdal, first we will visit the village of Roros with its many old houses. The mountain village of Roros in Trondelag is one of the oldest towns with wooden buildings in Europe and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Copper ore was mined here until 1970. Roros is considered the coldest place in Norway and has a wonderful Christmas market every year. We will continue through beautiful nature, with many grass roofs on the buildings, many waterfalls, and partly frozen lakes. In the early evening, we will reach Verdal, where we will be warmly welcomed by the landlords. The Verdal landslide monolith, Lysthaugen, commemorates the largest deadly landslide in the history of Norway. The deadly landslide occurred on the night of May 19, 1893, a fast mudslide that lasted about 1 hour, 116 people died, 105 farms were destroyed, and about 600 head of cattle perished. After this catastrophe, the area was drained and planted so that they would eventually have usable land again. After playing Jass, we will go to bed early because tomorrow morning we have an early wake-up call.
