In the last few days, there hasn't been much going on. We've been working every day and just relaxing or sleeping early in the evenings. I've moved back in with the guys and left the motel because it's much more profitable and I can work and earn more money for up to 2 hours more each day. We're staying at the Flying Nun or in the parking lot in front of it, as we can sleep in the van and pay less for accommodation.
There are also really cool people here, mainly Latin Americans, but also some Germans and Czechs. I've met Chileans and immediately got supplied with Mate again. Such a great tradition. Everyone really has their Mate with them, and each one's 'cup' looks a bit different.
Here in Gisborne, the pre-sale for fireworks started a few days ago and from that point on, the whole city seems to go crazy. There are several big fireworks displays every day, which we can admire again from the windows of Otis, our van.
Now we're working for Bonty on the kiwi plantation until Christmas, and after work, backpacker life will get more exciting again.
