After a break last year, it was time for a bike ride with my mom again. The decision was very spontaneous, so we only had a few days and didn't have to go too far away. We decided to cycle from Munich on the Isar.
First we had to get to Munich. We cycled the 21km to the next train station and had to wait forever for the train (delay) and make unscheduled stops, but by midday we were at Munich main station.
From there we pushed our bikes through the old town, because even though I had worked in Munich for a whole year, I had only been in the city center once. Then we looked for the Isar cycle path using Google maps. Unfortunately it was very poorly signposted. There had probably been floods a few days/weeks ago, so many parts were closed. The detour was more than tenuous and we got lost. Due to the short notice of our trip I hadn't bought a map and google maps wasn't directly accurate either. What the heck, this way we now saw parts of the research center in Garching.
From the district of Freising the signage was better, the Isar was still reasonably natural and we took a break by the water. The cycle path led us very close to the river through forests and was not paved. It was quite fun to drive there. We took a break in downtown Freising - after that we saw that there was also a folk festival, but we wanted to arrive and drove the few kilometers to the next town, where we booked accommodation, had dinner and soon went to bed.
