Everything in Peru west of the Andes is desert. In Ica, a heap of sand has accumulated. In the district of Huacachina, there are huge sand dunes and a small lagoon in the middle. It is fed by a small underground river from the Andes. Around it, a small holiday village has slowly developed. Great hotels and restaurants surround the lagoon. It is extremely peaceful, we spent a beautiful day here just lying in the sun.
