Travel days are really exhausting. Today and tomorrow are such days again. Today we are going to the coast to Granity, 30 km above Westport. During the 4-hour car ride, which is given by the navigation system, the 'Pancake Rocks' are on the agenda. But that will take a while. First, we race through the mountains.

Passing by forests, lakes, snow-covered peaks

and lonely mailboxes by the roadside. We reach a small village and the question arises, where do the people actually buy their groceries here? Because before and also far behind, we haven't seen a supermarket or anything similar on the highway. Maybe everyone is self-sufficient or there are inconspicuous 'mom-and-pop shops'?

The landscape slowly becomes flatter

and we reach the coast.

New Zealand is a dream scenically. Diverse like barely any other. Majestic mountains covered with rainforest stretch into the sea.

Lonely bays, great beaches.

I could stop after every turn, but then we would never arrive.

We reach one of the, in my opinion, few spectacular natural phenomena, the 'Pancake Rocks'. A pancake is a small pancake and that's what the rock formations look like, stacked pancakes. A nice '20' minute walk takes us to the viewpoints.

A true masterpiece of nature. After a little over an hour, we continue our journey.

After a total of 6 1/2 hours, we finally reach our next overnight destination. A small and cozy holiday home right on the beach.

With a glass of wine, grapes, and a few cheese crackers, we enjoy the last rays of sunshine on our terrace. Cheers.

PS: Rain is forecasted again for tomorrow.
