While still images of summer reach us from home, the hopefully last rainy day of the wet period is upon us today.

Rain Rain rain

It's a good thing that we want to tick off the visit to the swimming pool in Are on our holiday wish list.

The hotel swimming pool is the only one in a 200km radius. Apparently they are as rare here as big cities. Good that we happen to live only 20 minutes away from 🤭.

Postcard hunt

Before we move on to the relaxed part, we want to find a suitable postcard for Tobias and Julia. However, these also seem to be quite rare up here. In Östersund there were only 3 not really nice motifs for sale at the tourist information center. In Are we don't find a single one like this 😅. Who would have thought that it would be so difficult to find a postcard on vacation.

So we were quite at a loss and asked at the swimming pool checkout where we could find some. The nice employee thinks for a moment and says that there probably aren't any here. But she can still help us. At the reception you still have old cards that are no longer sold. When we look through the cards we quickly see where the problem is. All postcards show the picturesque and pretty winter landscape of the mountain region. Well. It's just a ski area 😂. So without further ado, we take a winter map with us. Maybe we'll find a summery card on the way home.

Winter garden 😂

Swimming pool

The swimming pool exceeded our expectations. It is extremely empty and we almost have the entire bathroom to ourselves. In addition to an outdoor pool with a slide, an adventure pool and a sports pool, there is a sauna area with 5 saunas, an ice bath, different tropical showers and a cold-blooded Kneipp pool

Direct view of the lake

The swimming pool is located directly on the large lake. The large panoramic window is really amazing. Luckily the sky clears up again in the evening. We decided to go for a short walk and then go for something to eat.

Trollstigen

Another item on our holiday todo is a hike to the 1400m high peak of Areskutan. Since our restaurant reservation is only in half an hour, we walk a little way up the mountain. The hiking trail is a little adventure story for children that tells of goblins and trolls.

Trolls clearly lived here

It's really cute how cute the popular hiking trails are here in Sweden.

The hiking trail is decorated with sweet little stories and works of art

Colorful stones can also be found everywhere along the way. As we learn above, this is the legendary snake of history.

We didn't discover all the missing stones 🤭

At the top of the terminus of the small mountain railway there are even speakers built into the rocks that play dangerous troll noises 🤭

The small cable car goes to the hotel in Are

Even though we have only climbed about 100m here, the view is already impressive. We are very excited to see what the view will be like from the top.

View of Are

On the way back we pass more small goblin dwellings.

The story is written in Swedish and English.

The way back is just as sweet. The actual path actually goes further up. But our dinner is waiting 🤭.

So cute

Right next to our restaurant, Broken is an American-style diner. There are definitely LiS vibes coming across. Are you currently working on a quarter part? 🤔 I would definitely be ready 🤭.

Dinner 🤗

Dinner 😋

We chose the Liten Krog. A big advantage is, among other things, that they have English menus 🤭. At first we had the Swedish version and didn't understand a word 😅.

Dinner

The food was extremely tasty and the service, like all the Swedes we have met so far, is super friendly.

For dessert there was a blueberry cake for Ian and crème brulee for me 🥰

Delicious

Ian eats anything with blueberries 🤭😋.

After eating, we quickly go back to the little furry friends. I was really longing 😘
