Finally in ALASKA

Нийтэлсэн: 23.08.2022

There is much to see on the way to Alaska, such as the signpost forest in Watson Lake or Dawson City, the gold rush town. Dawson City impressed us a lot as the downtown area has preserved its historical image. In order to replenish our travel budget, we tried our hand at gold panning, but unfortunately without success.
Rich in experience, we continued our journey. To reach Alaska, you have to take a ferry across the Yukon River and then tackle a 150 km gravel road, the Top of the World Highway. The road took us over various mountain ridges and the lonely tundra of Canada.
In the middle was the border hut to Alaska, which at first looked like a mountain hut in the Alps. Haha
Finally in ALASKA!
Our route took us to Fairbanks and then to Mount Denali National Park, the highest mountain in North America (about 6,000 m), where we watched a dogsled show and enjoyed nature. We only passed Anchorage and drove to the coast to Seward, where we took a 7.5-hour whale-watching tour. 2 hours later, after 3-meter-high swells and thankfully an empty sick bag, we saw dolphins, otters, seals, sea lions, jellyfish, eagles, humpback whales, ice floes in the water, and our highlight: 2 glaciers protruding directly into the sea.
Due to the persistently bad weather and the beginning of autumn with crisp 3 degrees, we decided to make our way back to Canada.

Next stop: Vancouver Island

Ps: Wi-Fi is so bad - more photos to follow ;)
