Playing billiards in the pub

Day 11 - Tastes like the sea!

On our journey up to the Baltic Sea coast, we pass by Lake Peipus, about 7 times the size of Lake Constance. The lighthouse and the view of the horizon emphasize the impression of being already at the sea: nothing but water...🌊

The Russian border is located in the lake, about 20 km away from us and the shore.🚧

But we stay in Estonia and reach the Lahemaa National Park. Here we spend the night on the site of Gut Palmse. However, not in the yellow manor house, but in the white former distillery.😊 Picturesque grounds, but a tricky building. The wooden floors creak and vibrate when our (very active🙄) neighbor walks around.

In the evening sun, we walked through the small villages of Võsu and Käsmu. In Võsu, a path leads along the beach through the pine forest. It's wonderful how the spicy scent of the pine trees mixes with the salt of the sea! I just can't get enough of it...😍

The whole town and its holiday homes nestle in the pine forest. One would like to linger here a little longer...👌

But we are drawn to the boulders in Käsmu. Here on the coast, scattered - be it in the front garden or on the beach - you can find stones of all sizes. They were transported here by glaciers and remained after the melting of the ice.☀️⛱

Some are 7 meters high. You can even comfortably climb a smaller fellow.😁💪

And last but not least, to today's headline:😊

Estonian is related to Finnish, and it's hard to derive anything.🤔 But some words were very funny 'Estonianized', or in other words, adopted into Estonian. The sign refers to a pub (Pubi), where you can play billiards (Piljard😁). Very cute...😊 And there is also a small sign indicating the 'Posti'. It's pretty clear what office that is referring to...😉
