The night to Monday (06.11.2017) was rather unsettled. I had to let the fat one out of the tent to puke several times. But I get a glimpse of the sunrise, then I lay down again for a few hours. Around eleven o'clock we are ready to go and head south. Once again, we go through extensive forests, whose appearance changes fundamentally several times. So it doesn't get boring. On the way, Rango reveals the reason for his discomfort during the night, he had swallowed a Lysvulpen (rabies vaccine for wild animals) along with the packaging. Whoever stuffs trash in themselves so randomly can't handle their freedom and has to walk on a leash again for a while. So we work our way to Poiana Mare by the afternoon. It's only just after three o'clock, but I set up our tent on a clearing and call it a day for today. Since the fat one hasn't eaten anything but water during the day, he's probably fine with that. After enjoying the last instant coffee, we go to bed early.
On Tuesday morning we can start early again. Today we are descending from the Măcin Mountains. Until then, we hike through forested areas again. It's sometimes hard to find the right way, so I go a bit off the beaten track again. We reach Balabancea around 2 p.m. and take a break at the local cafe. Rango also gets a small portion of food, while I treat myself to a beer. Among other things, I talk to the local teacher, whose mother was born near Berlin. He grew up with the German language and is visibly happy for the opportunity to refresh it a bit. After being well fortified, we continue. South of the village is Lacul Horia. Here I find a cozy spot on the shore, set up the tent and go for a swim first. After the ridge hiking of the past few days, I really need it.
Wednesday (November 8, 2017) starts gray and drizzly. So I take a bit more time to start the day, but still have to pack up the tent wet around eleven o'clock. After about 5 km, we treat ourselves to a first break in Horia. After coffee and a pancake filled with chocolate cream, we continue to Cloşca in the southeast. We reach DN22A around four o'clock and move south along the highway. I try to hitchhike again and am lucky after a short time. We can ride about 10 km in the back of a small truck to the next village. There I buy some provisions in the center. After some small talk, I head to the outskirts of the village and pitch our tent on a meadow.
Since Thursday also looks quite gloomy, the decision for a rest day in the tent is quickly made. So we spend the time until the afternoon dozing, reading and blogging. Around three o'clock we go to the village for a coffee, where there is again some chit-chat in front of the Mixt store. I can refill my drinking water supplies in front of the church, so everything is prepared for the next day's journey.
