This morning at 4:30 my alarm went off and I groggily made my way to return my "Moonrover." Afterwards, on my twelfth flight, I went through the usual routine one last time: check-in, security check, and waiting for boarding. By now, it has all become quite normal and I was so relaxed today that I almost missed the boarding and was the last one to board the plane. During the 3.5-hour flight to Frankfurt, I had a very pleasant conversation with a Luxembourgish family (maybe a nice travel destination as well).
Feeling overjoyed, I stepped off the plane after 5.5 months and was thrilled to have German ground under my feet again. Since I still had some time today and the weather was great, I decided to spend a few hours in Frankfurt before heading home. So, I locked my backpack in a locker at the main train station and simply walked around. I had to be careful not to approach everyone in English and make sure that people here understand me in German again. After a few hours, I boarded the ICE train to Stuttgart, no comparison to the trains in Southeast Asia. After Kathrin picked me up at the S-Bahn at 8 p.m., my journey was finally over, but the memories and experiences remain.
Now I want to thank everyone who accompanied me on my journey and read my blog here. But I would especially like to mention Kathrin, Markus, Jan, and my parents, without whom this journey would never have been so wonderful and exciting.
Your globetrotter, Michi
