Dubrovnik, Trogir and Dalmatia

Our first stop in Croatia was south of Dubrovnik, in a lovely place called Mlini. We really liked this place and from here, you could take a taxi boat to the center of Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik is simply an amazing city. Its location is impressive and it is special to approach it from the sea. The city itself, with its smooth cobblestones, impressive city walls, and many charming alleys, impressed us all. We especially liked being away from the tourist crowds - a woman hung her laundry next to the playing boys in a small playground. The number of tourists surprised us. Many Americans and stylish people. Everything is much more expensive, just like it should be in a tourist hotspot.

We then continued to the Peljesac Peninsula, took the ferry back to the mainland, and drove along the 'Makarska Riviera' to Trogir. We varied our campsites a bit, sometimes with a bit more hustle and bustle, which the kids liked, and sometimes in very small places. There are more people everywhere, but it is high season after all. But you can always find a place.

We also reached Trogir by taxi boat. It is an incredibly charming little town, similar to Dubrovnik, but a bit smaller and finer, with many beautiful corners.

It is hot, yes, but so far it's still manageable. We can sleep well and adjust our program to the weather. The heat doesn't bother the children much, and we also cope well with the two fans, lots of ice cream, and the refreshing sea.
