Phew, I don't even know where to start... last week was definitely pure stress!
As I mentioned before, we were looking for a job for a long time, which often took up a lot of time and sometimes spread bad mood because it seemed hopeless.
We have been traveling a lot now, to be precise the whole month of April. We are now close to Cairns, our destination, and thus the end of our adventure. We have spent time in wonderful places and relaxed with some nice Dutch people in Airlie Beach and had a few beers in the pub 😉.
Now for this week
On Tuesday, we finally received a response to my application. Whether we could come today to start tomorrow. The "problem" was, this job is on an island called "Magnetic Island", so we had to quickly: book the ferry, find a suitable place for our car in the city, go shopping and pack our backpacks. And off we went. Arriving on the island late in the evening, we found the nearest hostel and checked in there. The next morning at 6:30 a.m., we were picked up by our boss, given a brief introduction, and off we went. ➡️ Housekeeping! Making beds, cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, cleaning windows, etc. Since I have already done this as a part-time job in Germany for years, I quickly got into it. On the first day, we worked for 12 hours straight, the time right after Easter is always stressful... on Thursday, it was a public holiday, but no day off, instead double hourly wage 🥳🤘🏼 We work 7 days a week, with Sunday being optional. However, there is also double hourly wage there, so it is out of the question for us to take this day off 😁 we will now stay here for another three weeks, have a great hotel room organized for us by our boss, which is cheaper than a hostel! Including a pool and especially nice: our own bathroom! What a luxury. Great colleagues, a small team, and a great working atmosphere, what more could you want. 😊
In just 8 weeks, my adventure will come to an end... but I have to say, I'm really looking forward to going home! But before that, Thailand will be conquered. 😉
Greetings from Down Under
