3 Days at Rockaway Beach

Unfortunately, the night wasn't really restful due to the countless freight trains passing right by the campsite. They whistle loudly as they pass through inhabited areas. The rain, which keeps coming and going, also doesn't contribute to relaxation. The shower and the Dirty Chai in the morning help a little, but my tiredness never completely disappears. We follow the Scenic Highway 30 towards Portland and also want to hike today, but the closed trails ruin our plans again. Nevertheless, we still see two waterfalls before driving towards the coast to Tillamook in constant rain. After a visit to the Pelican Brewery for lunch and some shopping, we drive to Rockaway Beach to check into our studio at a motel near the beach for three days. Bed, bathroom with shower and toilet, table and refrigerator, and yes, a television are already wonderful amenities! We enjoy the luxury very much!

20.9.

Sleeping and waking up in a bed is simply fantastic! Today, we have to finalize the rest of our USA itinerary. We realize that not everything we have planned will be possible. After breakfast and doing laundry, we spend the whole day planning and researching. A short walk through the town and on the beach is the only thing that keeps us out of the room.

For the first time in a long time, we order pizza! They are delicious, although they are American-style pizzas. So, very thick ones.

We managed to divide the remaining 5 weeks in such a way that everything important fits in and only a few things have to be missed. We are proud and tired.

21.9.

Today, we organize all the reservations and our planned Workaway in Northern California.

We individually contact the eight potential hosts and clarify questions about other places on our journey. An afternoon of reading with seagull visits on the beach is very relaxing! After that, it's time to write in our diaries, maintain contacts, make phone calls, organize Indian food, and let the evening come to an end.
